Hey contestants! Here’s an update on some new ways to get started building with Alexa Conversations.
First, if you are in a region outside en_US, we’re working on a fix for the simulator testing tool. You can still build and we expect to have this working by the end of next week, so stay tuned for another update.
Second, last week’s 45-minute Alexa Conversations introduction is now available for streaming. Watch this on-demand Alexa Live session and hear from Alexa Evangelist Justin Jeffress (@sleepydeveloper) about how to get started designing and building with this exciting new tech. You’ll also hear from our Alexa data scientists about what the AI is doing in the background, and you’ll see it demonstrated by developers at iRobot and Big Sky in their skills.
Third, the github sample code is now posted for the Pizza Ordering Hosted Skill. Use this to see examples of annotated dialogs, API calls that pass captured input to your Lambda function, and interoperability between traditional intent handlers and Alexa Conversations in the same skill.
And finally, we’re here to help! Jump into the Slack channel, attend the Office Hours Tuesday, August 4th at 9:30AM PST, and attend the Slack live AMA on Wednesday, August 5th at 9am PST (post questions in advance in the #ask-me-anything channel).
Be sure to read over the full rules and eligibility requirements and get ready to submit by September 14, 2020.
We can’t wait to see what you build!
If you have any questions about the hackathon, please post on the discussion forum.
